Team Jumbo-Visma Women raises the bar again in 2022

A new season, but not a new start. In 2022, Team Jumbo-Visma Women wants to continue the upward trend of its successful first year. The team has a solid basis for further growth with solid additions. These include the American Coryn Labecki, race coach Carmen Small and Vacansoleil, the new sponsor on the shirt.

This year the focus will be on the spring classics again. Last season Marianne Vos took the women’s team’s first victory in Gent-Wevelgem, followed by an impressive win on home soil in the Amstel Gold Race. This season, British Anna Henderson and 29-year-old Labecki, among others, will also play essential roles in the team’s classic core.

“I’m very grateful for that”, Labecki said. “I’m bringing some experience and I am happy to share it with the younger riders. On the other hand, I’m looking forward to learning from Marianne. We are the same type of rider, and I am convinced that we can both reach a higher level by working together.”

The Dutch team also has its sights set on the first new edition of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. Labecki and Vos, among others, will prepare for this French stage race through altitude training.

“The Tour de France Femmes is one of our focal points of this season”, Marianne Vos added. “Hopefully we can win some stages. It's good that both Jumbo-Visma WorldTour teams can now participate in the Giro, the Vuelta and the Tour.”

Team Manager Esra Tromp said the 2022 goals are another step towards becoming the best women’s team in the world by 2024. “Starting a new team was a nice challenge”, Tromp said. “We put together a good team, formulated ambitious goals and made sure our riders were well-coached. This resulted in a nice and successful first year that is the basis for further growth. We do this step by step. We continue developing the current potential of the team and attracting new riders. This way, we can strengthen the team across the board and put our mark on the classics and the multi-day stage races even more. The professional framework also plays an important role in this. It shows on every level: nutrition, training, altitude training, tactics, equipment, aerodynamics, etc. We want to improve this to perfection to be on the same level as the other World Tour Team. Our sponsors are of course essential in that story. We are delighted with the arrival of Vacansoleil. They help ensure that Team Jumbo-Visma is a solid organisation and that we can focus on our job: Achieving great results in the races.”
