With one stage to go, Jonas Vingegaard has moved up to second place in the overall classification of the Tour of Denmark. The 22-year-old Dane started the stage in fourth position, but gathered three bonus seconds along the way. Vingegaard then sprinted to fourth place on the stage.
In the stage to Asnæs Indelukke, Team Jumbo-Visma controlled the peloton all the way. The usual breakaway was reeled in early, after which Vingegaard won the important intermediate sprint with the help of Norwegian Champion Amund Jansen. In the hilly final, the team of Frans Maassen left a strong impression by controlling the various break attempts. After everything had come together in the final two kilometres, Jansen started the sprint for Vingegaard. The Dane, however, wasn't unable to finish better than fourth place.
Sports director Frans Maassen saw a strong team performance. “The team was very strong today. Not only today, but the whole week they are leaving a good impression. Jonas gathered important seconds, but he didn't make the right decision in the sprint. He got boxed in. That's a pity, because I think he had the legs for more.”
