Finn Fisher-Black has started his first races for Jumbo-Visma Development Team s...
Three days after his impressive win in the Giro dell’Emilia, Primoz Roglic has struck again. The Slovenian leader of Team Jumbo-Visma won the Tre Valli Varesine in Italy through an attack in the final kilometre. For the Slovenian it is his thirteenth victory of the season which he will close as the number one in the world ranking. Roglic’ victory in the Italian autumn classic is Team Jumbo-Visma’s fiftieth victory.
On the local laps in Varese, a large leading group, including Team Jumbo-Visma’s George Bennett, broke clear. The group seemed to make it all the way to the finish, but was sent the wrong way in the final lap. In the final kilometre, Luis Leon Sanchez got reeled in, after which Roglic took the win with a powerful acceleration.
The Slovenian was more than happy with his victory, but also realised that a bit of luck was involved. “In the end I was lucky that the leading group took the wrong turn. Otherwise I would not have been able win. It was a difficult race and a tough final. I have to compliment the whole team again. We controlled the race all day and took the initiative in the final. When Sanchez was reeled in, I attacked and gave all I had. Luckily, it was enough to take the win. This is a great season for me and the team and we hope to take our form into the Giro di Lombardia.”
