Race preview Münsterland Giro and Italian and Belgian fall classics

The World Championships are over and the road season is nearing the end. In Germany, the Sparkassen Münsterland Giro is scheduled for today. After that race, our riders will travel to Italy to ride three autumn classics.

The Giro dell’Emilia takes place on Saturday and on Sunday we’ll race the Gran Premio Bruno Beghelli and La DH Famenne Ardenne Classic. Subsequently, the team will start in the Tre Valli Varesine and Binche-Chimay-Binche on Tuesday to ride for the prises.

“We are going for the win in the Sparkassen Münsterland Giro. We have a strong team, with Dylan Groenewegen as the leader. The middle part of the race has been made somewhat trickier, so we have to pay attention to that”, says sports director Grischa Niermann.

In Italy the riders get the chance to ride for their own success. The Giro dell’Emilia is a tough race in which the city climb of San Luca has to be climbed five times (2.2 km to 9%). Robert Gesink has good memories to this race, he won in 2009 and 2010. In the Bruno Beghelli GP the climb of Zappolino (1.5 km to 5.3%) must be done no less than ten times to finish in Monteveglio, which will ensure an open race. The Tre Valli Varesine is also characterised by its hilly and unpredictable character.

“Emilia is a fair and tough competition where we definitely want to get a top result. In the Bruno Beghelli GP the riders get the chance to race more freely. Tre Valli Varesine is also a difficult and open course”, sports director Frans Maassen says.

In Belgium the DH La Famenne Ardenne Classic and Binche-Chimay-Binche will take place. The race in the Belgian Ardennes will be marked by seven categorised climbs.

Last year, Danny van Poppel managed to sprint to the win with a majestic attack on the hilly arrival lane in Binche. This year, the team will be present in this race as well. The victory is the main goal.
