Gloag strong in final of mountain stage Tour of Valencia
Tom Gloag helped colour the finale of the second stage of the Tour of Valencia. ...
Marianne Vos has been unable to retain the leader's jersey in the fifth stage of the Tour of Scandinavia. On the final climb, Vos lost time. Anouska Koster finished seventh in the day's result, while Amber Kraak almost certainly won the mountain classification.
The Tour of Scandinavia’s queen stage ended on a final climb of more than 11 km. The peloton controlled the race for a long time until it exploded on the final climb to Norefjell. Before that, Kraak had already secured her mountain jersey. If she finishes the Tour of Scandinavia, she will win the mountain classification.
Race coach Carmen Small saw this plan executed to perfection. "Our main goals here are stage wins and the mountain jersey. We wanted to secure the mountain jersey today and we did. To reach this goal, the girls rode as a team”, said Small. The current mountain classification proves this. Places one to three are occupied by Team Jumbo-Visma riders.

Vos had a hard time on the final climb, so Small had to switch plans. Subsequently, Koster managed to come along with the strongest riders for a while. "The initial plan was to see how far Marianne could get on the final climb. Later Anouska did very well. Ultimately, she could not keep up with the best, but she was still solid. She surprised herself", the American of Team Jumbo-Visma said. Thanks to her seventh place in the stage, Koster now occupies eighth place in the standings.
