Team Jumbo-Visma has come through the second stage of the Tour of Hungary well. As expected, the race ended in a bunch sprint, which was won by Jakub Mareczko.
The last escapee was caught about ten kilometres from the end. At that moment the peloton increased the pace. Team Jumbo-Visma kept the leaders for the general classification well in front and avoided a big crash in the last kilometre.
Sports director Sierk Jan de Haan: “It was a warm day with temperatures around 36 degrees. We provided enough cooling for our riders. There was a real chance of echelons, so we kept Antwan Tolhoek, Tobias Foss and Chris Harper well in front. We deliberately did not get mixed up in the hectic last kilometres.”
