Mike Teunissen is ninth in the overall standings after the time trial in the BinckBank Tour, half a minute behind leader Mads Pedersen. Teunissen rode a solid time trial in Riemst. He eventually conceded twenty-seven seconds to stage winner Kragh Andersen.
Sports director Arthur van Dongen was satisfied with the time trial of his leader. “Mike rode a good time trial. He has shown in the past that he can do well in these kind of short, vicious time trials. It was a selective course in which you had to be careful in the corners. Mike is still in the top ten of the overall standings and we can certainly build on that.”
Tomorrow the BinckBank Tour ends in Geraardsbergen after a mini-Tour of Flanders. Last year, Mike Teunissen sprinted to sixth place after having ridden for overall winner Laurens De Plus all day. “It will be very difficult tomorrow, with four times the Kapelmuur and finish at the Vesten. It is a stage that offers possibilities”, Van Dongen continued. “Everything is possible. We’ll go for it and hope for a good result. Mike is feeling good and he is getting better every day.”
