Labecki eighth in final stage of RideLondon Classique

Coryn Labecki has sprinted to eighth place in the final stage of the RideLondon Classique. Anna Henderson won the mountain prize.

The final stage was an 85-kilometre criterium over local laps in the centre of London. Everything indicated that the stage would end in a bunch sprint, but several riders tried to attack nevertheless. Team Jumbo-Visma’s Amber Kraak attacked once and finished third in the first intermediate sprint.

Eventually, the stage did end in the expected bunch sprint. The Team-Jumbo Visma riders created a nice train to put Labecki in the best possible position and the American rider finished in eighth place. Henderson had already secured the mountain prize yesterday and brought that jersey safely across the finish line.

"Coryn came just short to sprint for the win, but it was still a great day"

Race coach Lieselot Decroix

According to race coach Lieselot Decroix, the riders executed the plans well. "Our goal was to be attentive in the breakaways. Amber did that well and Teuntje was also active in the front. After that, we also wanted to set up a lead-out for Coryn and we succeeded at that. Coryn came just short to sprint for the win, but it was still a great day."

"We’ve improved the lead-out a lot compared to the first two stages. We’ve made a step forward as a team”, Decroix concluded.
