Attacking Team Jumbo-Visma sees strong Henderson finish eighth in Nokere Koerse

Team Jumbo-Visma has displayed plenty of attacking spirit during the Belgian semi-classic Nokere Koerse. Anna Henderson caused a stir for the Dutch team and finished eighth on the cobbles of the Nokereberg.

The riders rode the rolling Flemish roads in sunny conditions. Team Jumbo-Visma often attacked in the semi-classic that contained obstacles such as the Tiegemberg, Holstraat, Nokereberg and several cobbled sections.

On the Tiegemberg climb, Henderson and five others attacked for the first time. Moments later, the British rider launched another attack that lasted much longer. On the final lap, Henderson proved to be one of the better riders in the race after she was dropped perfectly on the Lange Ast climb, thanks to the efforts of Teuntje Beekhuis and Noemi Ruegg, among others. However, she could do little about Lotte Kopecky's supremacy in the final. The Belgian reached the finish line alone.

"My teammates always put me in a good position, and I am grateful for that."

Henderson: "We rode a good race with this young team. My teammates always put me in a good position, and I am grateful for that. The attack with Kopecky was nice, but with the other teams in control, it made little sense. When Kopecky attacked again at the end, I couldn't follow, but then I tried it myself. Unfortunately, I never got any closer. I'm pleased with my eighth-place finish, and we can confidently anticipate the upcoming races.”

Race coach Lieselot Decroix was pleased with her riders’ attacking spirit. "We rode together as a team and were quite aggressive. Anna rode well at important and decisive moments. We weren't really on the wheel the last time Kopecky went; she was very powerful. We may be pleased with how we performed in the race, especially with how our cyclists rode for one another.”
