Tour preparation Team Jumbo-Visma at altitude camp in Tignes
Before the start of Tour de France, Team Jumbo-Visma will visit the French area of Tignes twice for an altitude camp. Team leaders Primoz Roglic, Steven Kruijswijk and Tom Dumoulin and others team members will prepare themselves in Tignes for the French grand tour that starts at the end of August.
The first training camp in Tignes takes place in the last three weeks of July. In mid-August, the Dutch team will travel to France again. Team Jumbo-Visma will start with almost the same formation in Tour de l’Ain and Critérium du Dauphiné between the first and second altitude stages. “We would like to create a kind of bubble by having the Tour team race and train together for a major part”, Head of Performance Mathieu Heijboer said. “Last year we went to Tignes for the first time in preparation of the Tour de France. We really liked that. That is why we have chosen to do our preparation in Tignes again.”
Heijboer indicates that the riders have maintained their condition well in the past period. “All riders continued to train with their trainers. They have remained fit in a professional manner. We know that everyone is in good shape. We leave with great confidence to the training camp to ensure that we start the month of August in optimal shape.”
Located at an altitude of 2,100 metres in the heart of the Vanoise National Park, Tignes offers plenty of opportunities to be active in both winter and summer.
