Positive corona test keeps Vos out of Paris-Roubaix

The women’s team of Team Jumbo-Visma is in France this weekend for the second edition of Paris-Roubaix Femmes. Marianne Vos came in second here last year and again had big ambitions. Unfortunately, Covid has prevented her participation.

A few hours before the start of the race, Vos tested positive. Despite the relaxed corona measures, Team Jumbo-Visma sticks to strict protocols. Riders and staff members take a self-test every day - also this morning. Vos’s test turned out to be positive. A second test provided the same result. Although Vos has no complaints, starting in Paris-Roubaix today is not an option.

“The disappointment is enormous”, Vos said. “I had been looking forward to this race. When I tested positive this morning, the world came crashing down. But I support the team’s policy. I should not take any risks with my health. I’m going home, I’m taking a rest and I hope I keep feeling well.”

Romy Kasper, Coryn Labecki, Linda Riedmann, Teuntje Beekhuis and Riejanne Markus will start today. They tested negative and, in accordance with the corona protocols within Team Jumbo-Visma, have not had close contact with Marianne or each other.
