Sjors Lugthart will wear the yellow and black of the Jumbo-Visma Development Team from 1 January 2024. The second-year junior rider has signed a two-year contract.
Lugthart is the reigning Dutch junior champion in the time trial discipline. Last year he won the final classification of the Acht van Bladel. The 17-year-old rider says he is delighted to have signed a contract with the Team Jumbo-Visma development team. "When the news came that I had been given a contract, I was speechless. It is encouraging to see that the team recognises my potential. It gives me a lot of confidence for the coming years. I'm looking forward to finding my place in the team."
The junior from Willebrord Wil Vooruit is part of CyclingClassNL. "Thanks to CyclingClassNL, I have made huge steps in my development. Not only physically but mentally as well. Within CyclingClassNL, I have learned a lot about how to progress in cycling."
"We believe that Sjors can make great progress in the coming years"
Head of Development Robbert de Groot: "Sjors is someone we have been following for a long time. The CyclingClassNL training programme has ensured that he has developed himself strongly. We look beyond the race results in our scouting. It is great that we have found another Dutch talent. We believe that Sjors can make great progress in the coming years."
