Dumoulin makes comeback in Tour de Suisse

Tom Dumoulin will make his comeback in the professional peloton in the Tour de Suisse. The rider of Team Jumbo-Visma has made this decision together with the team as he has recently found the joy in cycling again. Last January Dumoulin decided to temporarily pause his career to reflect on his future.

In Switzerland Dumoulin wants to regain the racing feeling. After the Swiss stage race, the former world time trial champion will also appear at the start of the Dutch time trial and road championships. Dumoulin will also go to the Olympic Games in Tokyo, where he will start in both the road race and the time trial.

"In April I slowly started cycling again and I also came back with a happy feeling more and more often. I thought: ‘oh yeah, this is really fun after all’. Then I decided to be present at the Amstel. And I found it very nice to see everyone again and to taste the atmosphere of the race. That triggered me to say ‘oh, this is a world in which I have built up something in recent years but that has also really become my world’. A world that I really like."

"We now have a plan containing the Tour de Suisse, the Dutch championships and the Olympics. The Olympics is really the main goal. We haven’t looked beyond that and I don't want to yet.”
