BrabantSport and Team Jumbo-Visma join forces

BrabantSport and Team Jumbo-Visma are entering into a partnership to promote and stimulate cycling in the Dutch province of North Brabant. Introducing young people to the sport of cycling, promoting the advancement of talent and encouraging the sharing of knowledge between clubs are the goals underlying this collaboration.

The Team Jumbo-Visma Academy and BrabantSport, through the BrabantSport Fund, will be visible at various locations in Brabant as part of the collaboration. For example, various schools will be visited where children can participate in cycling clinics. Exploratory talks will also soon be held with cycling clubs in Brabant to jointly organise open training sessions and Ready2Race races. This will get more children to exercise, something that ties in with the ambitions of both BrabantSport and Team Jumbo-Visma Academy. In addition, the TeamNL centre of BrabantSport will support the new initiative of Team Jumbo-Visma, NOC*NSF and the KNWU, called CyclingClassNL.

Nienke Nijenhuis, Director of Top Sport & Innovation at BrabantSport: “I am extremely proud of the collaboration between BrabantSport and Team Jumbo-Visma. Together we will ensure that cycling in Brabant will be put even more on the map. We want to give both the top and the grassroots sport an enormous boost. This partnership offers great opportunities to do so. In addition, several experts from the TeamNL Centre of BrabantSport in nutrition and strength & conditioning will contribute to CyclingClassNL, which, by order of the KNWU, will be implemented by Team Jumbo-Visma. It’s great that we can share our knowledge and expertise in this way.”

Dutch champion Timo Roosen, a Brabant native, is delighted with the collaboration between BrabantSport and his team Team Jumbo-Visma. “My experiences as a Brabant youth rider are super. I enjoyed my entire youth training in this province and I have very good memories of that. There is a very good structure and this cooperation contributes to maintaining and improving the beautiful sports climate of Brabant. I would find it very nice for us to be assured of Brabant’s cycling talent in the coming years. This cooperation is, also thanks to the CyclingClassNL initiative, a step in the right direction.”
