Dylan Groenewegen has taken his third stage win in the 4 Jours de Dunkerque. The Dutchman sovereignly finished off an excellent lead-out in Compiègne. Due to his hattrick, Groenewegen extends his overall lead.
For Groenewegen, it is his eighth win of the season. It is the seventeenth win for Team Jumbo-Visma.
Team Jumbo-Visma controlled the stage fairly easily. Two times, a leading group of four was neutralised, after which Tony Martin, Amund Jansen and Mike Teunissen positioned their sprinter perfectly for the sprint.
“Today, the lead-out went perfect. The team did a good job and kept control throughout the day. We took the initiative in the last kilometre and a half”, Groenewegen explained.
“The cobblestones in the end were tricky; especially with all those corners. Amund and Mike started the sprint perfectly, after which I finished it off. It was a long lead-out, but I am happy that I was able to win and therefore reward the work of the team. It was a nice sprint. It is a nice confirmation that we are going in the right direction for the Tour.”
