Bennett confidently looking forward to second part of Paris-Nice

George Bennett has finished the fourth stage of Paris-Nice without any problems and time loss. The leader of Team Jumbo-Visma finished in the hilly stage to Pelussin in the peloton containing all the race favourites. In the overall standings Bennett moved up to the eighteenth place at nineteen seconds of the new leader Michal Kwiatkowski. After four days, he has taken over the yellow jersey from Dylan Groenewegen. The Dutch sprinter is still in possession of the green points jersey.

The longest stage of Paris-Nice became one for the breakaway. A group of thirteen riders battled for the win. Behind them there was hardly any serious racing and the favourites stayed together.

“I am happy that I have survived the first four stages well and that I can go into the time trial and the mountain stages from a good position”, Bennett said. “The time gaps are already quite big after the first four stages. It have been a very hectic few days. With two stage wins and having had the leader’s jersey for four days it was a success for us. That also gives me confidence for the remainder of this race.”
